SUMMARY:Scientific Presentation in Astronomy
DESCRIPTION:This course of our IAA SO Training programme will focus on how to impart scientific presentations. It will consist of a one hour lecture followed by up to four practical sessions every two weeks. \nThe participants have the opportunity to impart presentations that they have either given recently or that they are preparing for upcoming events. The SO Training team (coordinator and/or co-coordinators) as well as the audience will provide the speaker with feedback. Up to two presentations (not longer than 25 min) can be accommodated per session. The participation in the practical sessions is optional\, but all participants are strongly encouraged to impart a presentation in the practical sessions and also to attend those by others to learn and help with feedback. \nThe sessions will take place bi-weekly on Tuesday afternoon. SUMMARY:Academic Spanish Course for Foreigners (2024)
DESCRIPTION:The Academic Spanish course for foreigners is designed to facilitate effective communication in academic and professional contexts. Through a practical and personalized focus\, the participants will develop essential linguistic abilities to discuss scientific articles\, participate in conferences\, give presentations\, and collaborate in international projects. The program includes technical vocabulary\, beginner and advanced grammar\, and simulations of real-life situations. Moreover\, it will promote the cultural immersion to strengthen the comprehension of the Hispanic world\, and their impact on interdisciplinary investigation and collaboration. \nThe course is taught by Prof. Nazira Ruíz

SUMMARY:LGTBIQ+ ROUND TABLE: towards a more diverse and inclusive research
DESCRIPTION:Con motivo del Día Internacional del Orgullo LGBT (28 de junio)\, la Comisión de Igualdad\, Diversidad e Inclusión del IAA-CSIC organizó el 25 de junio la mesa redonda «LGTBIQ+ ROUND TABLE: towards a more diverse and inclusive research» \nCon Eleonora Fiorellino (INAF – Observatory of Naples)\, Jara Juana Bermejo Vega (UGR)\, Rocío Sola Jiménez (UGR) and Óscar Huertas Rosales (DaSCI – UGR)\, moderada por Manu González. \n \n¿Quieres conocer de primera mano cuál es la realidad de las personas LGTBIQ+ en investigación? Desde la Comisión de Igualdad\, Diversidad y Inclusión del Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía hemos organizado una mesa redonda donde cuatro investigadoras e investigadores comentarán\, desde su propia experiencia\, cómo promover la visibilidad y la inclusión\, qué consejos ofrecerían a investigadoras e investigadores jóvenes y/o dentro del armario o cómo ser un buen aliado del colectivo \nPARTICIPANTES \n\nEleonora Fiorellino (INAF – Observatory of Naples)\n\nSoy de Roma\, Italia. Estudié la licenciatura y el máster en la Universidad La Sapienza de Roma. También he realizado mi doctorado en Astronomía\, Astrofísica y Ciencias del Espacio en Roma\, que es conjunto entre las universidades Inaf\, La Sapienza y Tor Vergata. Durante mi doctorado gané la beca para estudiantes de ESO y pasé un año en ESO en Garching bei Munchen. Tras la defensa de mi tesis doctoral\, en 2020\, comencé un Postdoc en Budapest\, en el Observatorio Konkoly. Después de eso\, volví a Italia donde actualmente trabajo como Postdoc en el INAF en el Observatorio de Nápoles. En julio comenzaré un nuevo puesto en el IAC en Tenerife. Desde que estudiaba en la Universidad me he interesado por las actividades del EDI. Entre otras cosas\, estuve en el grupo de trabajo para el GEP en Konkoly y soy miembro activo del grupo de trabajo EDI del INAD llamado Univers@ll. \n\nJara Juana Bermejo Vega (UGR)\n\nDoctora en Física e Informática (especialidad: computación cuántica) por la Universidad Técnica de Múnich. Investigadora Ramón y Cajal. Investigadora Principal de Ayuda Consolidación y HORIZON RIA en la Universidad de Granada. Marie Curie – Athenea3i en la Universidad de Granada\, España (2019-2022). Investigadora postdoctoral en la Universidad Libre de Berlín\, Alemania (2016-2019). Investigadora predoctoral en el Instituto Max Planck de Óptica Cuántica de Múnich\, Alemania (2010-2015). Doble licenciatura en Física e Ingeniería Técnica en Informática por la Universidad de Salamanca\, España (2005-2010). Juani Bermejo-Vega es activista por los derechos\, la igualdad y la inclusión en la ciencia. Es cofundadora y coorganizadora de la conferencia de información cuántica inclusiva Q-turn (2018-2020) y del Grupo de Igualdad de Oportunidades de la Max-Planck PhDnet (2014-2017). \n\nRocío Sola Jiménez (UGR)\n\nRocío Sola estudió Historia del Arte en la Universidad de Granada. Cursó un máster de Estudios Comparativos en Literatura\, Arte y Pensamiento y es Doctore Cum Laude en Humanidades por la Universidad Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona. Sus principales líneas de investigación abordan la cuestión del espacio y el paisaje en el arte de las vanguardias desde la teoría de los afectos\, aunque también se ha especializado en literatura alemana de entreguerras en clave de género\, así como en estudios de prensa queer y LGTBQIA+ en la República de Weimar. Recientemente ha concluido una estancia de investigación Margarita Salas en la Universidad de Granada\, en el Departamento de Historia del Arte\, ha participado en diversos proyectos de investigación con financiación europea y se encuentra coordinando un libro sobre escritoras alemanas y austríacas exiliadas en el periodo de entreguerras. En Granada\, milita en Antirracismo Granada y forma parte activa de la Coordinadora del Orgullo Crítico. \n\nÓscar Huertas Rosales (DaSCI – UGR)\n\nLdo. Bioquímica. Dr. Microbiologia y Máster en Biotecnología y en Cultura Científica y Experto en gestión de proyectos de comunicación y divulgación Científica. Tras un corto periplo de 10 años por la investigación se pasó a hacer comunicación con la Asociación Hablando de Ciencia (donde es presidente)\, después con su propia Empresa LANIAKEA Management & Communication y más tarde en la universidad. También es tesorero de la AEC2. En la actualidad es el responsable de comunicación del instituto DaSCI-UGR. \nMODERADOR \n\n Manu González

SUMMARY:Intersexionality\, a key work for diversity?
DESCRIPTION:Since we are children we have been taught what we are and we learn how to fit into a set of infinite boxes. Each of these boxes defines us and\, at the same time\, can be used to discriminate against us\, in life and at work. Diversity exists and it could be an advantage for our society. As scientists we should understand how to take care of diversity and use it to improve our work and life quality. One of the main problems in the past has been that humankind tried to build a rank of «important differences» which led to discrimination\, ending up discriminating among differences.
