SUMMARY:En busca de nuevas Tierras

SUMMARY:"Where skies meet: multidisciplinary views of planet and exoplanet atmospheres" - IAA-CSIC Severo Ochoa Advanced School
DESCRIPTION:The IAA-CSIC Severo Ochoa Advanced School «Where skies meet: multidisciplinary views of planet and exoplanet atmospheres» is designed for researchers interested in the study of planetary atmospheres both in the Solar System and in exoplanets\, aiming to bridge the two communities. The school will provide an up-to-date perspective on the latest developments in the study of Solar System atmospheres and in the emerging field of exoplanetary atmospheres\, reflecting the rapid evolution of planetary science. While researchers at all career stages are welcome\, preference will be given to early-stage researchers (PhD researchers and early postdocs). \nThe topics covered by the school include planetary formation\, planetary interior and its link with the atmosphere\, atmospheric modeling\, observational techniques\, radiative transfer and retrieval schemes\, as well as 1-day Workshop on potential Venus-analogue exoplanets. In addition to topical lectures going beyond textbook knowledge\, the school will also schedule hands-on sessions focused on the practical use of  state-of-the-art tools in the field given by their developers\, promoting interaction between lecturers and participants. \n  \n\nMAIN SCIENCE TOPICS\n\n\n\nPlanetary formation\nPlanetary interior and conexion with atmosphere\nAtmospheric modeling\nObservational techniques\nRadiative transfer and retrieval schemes\nWorkshop: Venus analogue exoplanets\n\n  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nLECTURERS AND TUTORS\n\n\n\nLorena Acuña (Max Planck Institute for Astronomy\, Germany)\nJoanna Barstow (Open University\, UK)\nElsa Ducrot (IRFU-CEA\, France)\nFrancois Forget (Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique – IPSL\, France)\nEric Hébrard (University of Exeter\, UK)\nManuel López Puertas (Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía – CSIC\, Spain)\nYamila Miguel (Leiden University\, The Netherlands)\nOlga Muñoz (IAA-CSIC\, Granada\, Spain)\nIgnas Snellen (Leiden University\, The Netherlands)\nMichael Way (Theoretical Astrophysics\, Department of Physics and Astronomy\, Uppsala University\, Uppsala\, Sweden)\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nORGANIZING COMMITTEE\n\n\n\nFrancisco José García Izquierdo (IAA-CSIC)\nFrancisco Gonzalez Galindo (IAA-CSIC) – Chair\nGabriella Gilli (IAA-CSIC) – Chair of the ExoVenus workshop\nThea Kozakis (IAA-CSIC)\nAlberto Mendi Martos (IAA-CSIC)\nGwenaël Milcareck (IAA-CSIC)\nFrancisco José Pozuelos Romero (IAA-CSIC)\nAlejandro Sánchez López (IAA-CSIC)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:SO Colloquium – Venus as an Anchor Point for Planetary Habitability
DESCRIPTION:A fundamental aspect of understanding the limits of habitable environments and detectable signatures is the study of where the boundaries of such environments can occur\, and the conditions under which a planet is rendered into a hostile environment. In our solar system\, Venus is the most Earth-like planet\, yet at some point in planetary history there was a bifurcation between the two: Earth has been continually habitable since the end-Hadean\, whereas Venus became uninhabitable. Indeed\, Venus is the type-planet for a world that has transitioned from habitable and Earth-like conditions\, through the inner edge of the Habitable Zone (HZ); thus it provides a natural laboratory to study the evolution of habitability. \nIn this talk I will describe the gaps in our knowledge regarding Venus within the context of how these gaps are impacting our ability to model exoplanet atmospheres and interiors. I will discuss various factors that relate to a possible habitable past of Venus\, including orbital evolution. I will outline exoplanet target selection for testing the conditions of runaway greenhouse and present examples of potential Venus analogs. \nFinally\, I will summarize the primary exoplanet science questions that will be addressed by the coming NASA and ESA missions to Venus. \n  \nFecha y lugar: 22/10/2026 – 12:30 | Salón de ActosStephen KaneUniversity of California\, Riverside \n
