Abstract:
Jovian spectra in the red region obtained in the 1985-1989 period are studied globally. All of the observations were carried out using the coude spectrograph at 1.52m telescope at Calar Alto Observatory (Spain). The center-to-limb behaviour of the equivalent widths of the CH4-6190 angstrom and NH3-6450 angstrom bands is analyzed as well as the absorption of these bands along the north-south direction at central Meridian of the planet. The temporal variations obtained along the period are discussed. A high center-to-limb ratio for the ammonia band was found, which increased over the period of the observations. The absorption of these bands is slightly greater at belts than at zones. Also, a theoretical model for interpretation is proposed.
