Abstract:
Absolutely calibrated maps of several distinct regions of Jupiter have been obtained at the coude focus of the 1.52-m telescope at Calar Alto Observatory. These maps cover the spectral region lambda-lambda-5920-6600 angstrom with a nominal resolution of 1.2 angstrom per pixel. The latitudinal and longitudinal variations of the equivalent widths of the CH4-6190 and NH3-6450 angstrom bands have been obtained during the 1991 Jupiter's opposition. The results are compared with previous observations using the same instrumentation and reduction techniques, giving important information on the spatial and temporal variations of the absorption and reflectivity on the Jovian disk.
