Proposed Topics ================ -- Starbursts and SFHs in dwarf galaxies - Surf. brightness analys.: burst -- LSB components - CMDs - spectrosc. Notes: Star-forming activity in BCDs does not take place out to a fortuituous galactocentric distance but is typically confined to the 24-2.45 B mag/arcsec**2 isophotal radius of their underlying LSB host galaxies. In the most common type of iE BCDs (classification scheme by Loose & Thuan 1986) the cumulative luminosity output of discrete and more diffuse star-forming sources (e.g., SSCs, compact star clusters / an evenly distributed young stellar population, made out of dissolved star clusters?) produces a "plateau" feature in SBPs. The SFH within the plateau (flux contribution of compact and extended young stellar sources, duration of and stellar mass produced in ``bursts'') has never been studied in sufficient detail so far. The Goettingen group is going to combine different tools to search for a self-consistent constraints to the SFH of selected BCDs (CMDs, color gradients, spectral population synthesis) - evolutionary links among diff. types of dwarf galaxies Notes: Long-standing question. Comparison of the structural properties of the LSB host galaxies in BCDs and dIs. Is there a sharp structural dichotomy between either dwarf galaxy type or is there a significant fraction of gas-rich star-forming dwarf galaxies with interemediate properties? -- Starbursts and SFH in massive gas-rich interacting galaxies/mergers - SF efficiencies - SF vs Star Cluster Formation - lifetime, evolution of Star clusters - star clusters vs. surface photometry - TDGs -- Starburst props & SF processes/efficiences in - dwarf vs massive galaxies - isolated vs interacting Ongoing collaborations with other nodes ========================================= J.M.
