Research Interests

Relativistic jets commonly present in active galaxies, originated by the accretion of material onto supermassive black holes at the center of these galaxies. This research is carried out through radio interferemetric observations, simultaneous at other wave-bands, and their comparison with numerical simulations.

The Event Horizon Telescope captures the first image of a black hole shadow

First images of the black hole shadow in M87 obtained by the Event Horizon Telescope.

The Event Horizon Telescope has been awarded with the 2020 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for obtaining “the first image of a supermassive black hole, taken by means of an Earth-sized alliance of telescopes.”
