A new lab at IAA-CSIC

Prof. John Plane's equipment, previously located at the Challenger Laboratory in the School of Chemistry at the University of Leeds, was transferred in September 2023 to IAA-CSIC in Granada. This transfer included a set of excimer, Nd:YAG, and dye lasers, along with a photo-ionization ToF (Time of Flight) mass spectrometer. This equipment forms the foundation of the new Studies of Gas-to-Particle Conversion Kinetics Laboratory (SPARKSLAB) at IAA. I am currently conducting new laboratory work at SPARKSLAB on gas-phase metal chemistry. This research is aimed at understanding new particle formation processes of relevance to planetary atmospheres and astrophysical environments.
