Maps and directions

Granada is not a big city, and you will have no problem finding out how to move around it. The center, the Alhambra, the Albaicin, hotels and the IAA, are at walking distance one from each other. If you arrive at the Granada airport you can take a taxi directly to your hotel (around 25 euro), or take instead the bus just outside the airport (Airport-Granada City, 3 euro) that stops in various places and go through all the city center. Look at the web page for the Granada Airport and bus to the city center

If you are not able to find a direct flight to the Granada Airport or a not enough cheap direct flight, alternative airports are: Malaga (1.30 hours bus from Granada), Seville (2.30 hours bus from Granada) and Madrid (4-5 hours bus from Granada). From here you could take another flight to Granada or an bus (I dissuade you to use the train service, it's very expensive and you will not gain time with respect to the bus). While the Madrid-Barajas airport could have a 'to Granada' bus stop at the Terminal 4 and direct connections to the city train/bus stations by metro, the Malaga and Seville airports have not a direct connection with the respective bus and train stations (either a very bad connection, or a not trivial connection), thus you could take a taxi from the airport to the bus/train stations (15/20 euro). Once in the bus or train station in Granada, the simplest thing to do is to take a taxi directly to your hotel (5/8 euro).

Here you have a map of the IAA area. It shows the location of the Hotel Macia Basilios as well as some other hotels. Location of other services you may need are also marked. Notice that Granada has a broad variety of restaurants, and those you can find in that map are just some which are non-smoking places.

In this other map you can see the IAA location and various bar/restaurants near the Institute. Smoking is allowed in many of these places, however you might find service avilable on a terrace.
