Abstract:
Using the data set presented in Ortiz et al. (Icarus 117, 328-344, 1995) we further analyze some of the most outstanding changes from 1991 to 1993 in the saturnian atmosphere. For this purpose, limb-to-limb reflectivity scans at planetographic latitudes 0°, 10°, 20°, 40°, and 70° have been studied in terms of multiple scattering radiative transfer models. The large changes in reflectivity and methane absorption at equatorial latitudes from 1991 to 1993 are attributed to a considerable increase in the aerosol abundance at different levels within the extended tropospheric haze. © 1990 Academic Press, Inc.
