Hydrodynamical Models of Core-Collapse Supernovae

A set of hydrodynamical models applied to stellar evolutionary progenitors is used to study the nature
of core-collapse supernovae (SNe).  For the type IIb SN 2011dh, our modeling suggests that a large progenitor star---with R ~200 R_sol--- is needed to reproduce the early light curves. This is consistent with the suggestion that a yellow super-giant star detected at the location of the SN in deep pre-explosion images is the progenitor star. For the Type Ib SN~2008D, associated with the X-ray Flash 080109, we present a model that assumes a double-peaked distribution of radioactive 56Ni. This assumption is introduced to explain the behavior of the light curve a few days after the explosion
