The Legacy of the HST for Studies of Stellar Populations in the Local Group

Over the past 10 years, most of the galaxies in the Local Group have been observed by the HST for the purpose of studying their stellar populations. I will present a summary of some of these observations, and describe some of the key scientific questions that have been addressed with these data. I will focus on the issue of derived star formation histories of Local Group galaxies, giving my perspective of the important issues, some of the problems for extracting information, and potential for future analysis.
Since I am currently in the middle of a 6 month sabattical in Granada, I will also spend a short amount of time at the beginning of the talk describing some of my other research interests, and a brief description of some of the projects I am working on while in residence here.
